Identifying The Stomach And Intestines of Cammon Carp (Cyprinus carpio)

This descriptive laboratory study identified the anterior digestive tract and intestine of one common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and documented associated morphometric and reproductive observations. The specimen was examined during a Fisheries Biology practicum in April 2026. External morphology was recorded, the body cavity was dissected, and the digestive tract was examined macroscopically. The fish measured 39.5 cm in total length, 28.0 cm in standard length, and 510 g in body weight. No anatomically discrete true stomach was identified; the anterior intestinal region continued into a long, coiled intestine, consistent with an agastric cyprinid digestive plan. The ovary weighed 99.87 g, producing a gonadosomatic index of 19.58%. The practicum record reported an average egg diameter of 0.125 mm and macroscopic gonad maturity stage IV. Because raw egg measurements, microscope magnification, and calibration data were not retained, the egg diameter value is presented as provisional and requires remeasurement. These observations provide a specimen level description and should not be generalized to the wider population.
